Kieffer pears are an old hybrid variety often unheard of in recent times. Considered "storage pears" Kieffers are able to keep in the fridge for months after harvest. Slower to ripen, the fruits will take on a yellow color. Flesh is crisp, sweet, and moderately grainy. Great for cooking, canning, or eating.
